Playing avi files

Can someone please tell me what i need to download to be able to play avi files on my media player or other player. I am running windows xp and can only play mpeg and mpg files?

Media Player should be able tp play avi files. If you go to tools and options I think there's a tab that lets you tick which files m.player runs.

If these still don't work, you may need a video codec. Try these:-
