Dashes.

When making a list of dates in word, some dashes are longer than others and the list is not quite uniform. Is there a way around this? Example below.
The first and last dashes are shorter than the others.

1811 - 1835
1835 � 1881
1956 � 1971
1991 - 1995
Any help would be appreciated.

on the tools menu, click autop correct. then the 'auto format as you type, then un check the 'replace - with -- box'
