'Network' has been suggested as a collective noun for computers in general, so why not use it for laptops, too?
I suggest "an apron" of laptops.

Now I like that one :-)
A cache of laptops ?
A nuisance of laptops ( I can't type or use that stupid mouse thingy on a laptop)
how about a s**t load. depending on the make of course

It's a Dell, as in:

'I've got 5 laptops'

'Blimey, that's a dell of a lot'

When a train load of commuters are all using 2000 laptops to play the same game of Solitaire that they could each play with a 2 pack of cards:
"An absurdity of laptops".

When the same commuters are all looking round to see who's got the latest model to play Solitaire on:
"An expense of laptops"

Or, assuming that they're all running Windows:
"A crash of laptops".

Chris

Given the speed at which a new machine becomes 'old technology', I give you "an obselecence of laptops"

If used by blokes collectively looking at 'art house' websites, perhaps "a pornucopia of laptops"

Great question.
