don't use front page unless you want to use the point and click stuff. all it does is create the HTML for you. this is however very easy to learn yourself, so you can easily type it out yourself.

that's got a good section of tutorials. you'll want to learn HTML and CSS.

as for typing all this stuff in, you can use just plain old windows notepad. but better than that are programs like scite: http://www.scintilla.org/SciTE.html

This site might prove useful:

A much better idea, though, is to call at your local library and ask for a book about FrontPage. (Most libraries will normally have one or two suitable books in stock. If not, they'll be happy to order one from another branch). However good a website tutorial is, it's still far easier to work from a book!

Also consider nVu at www.nvu.com

It's free, easy to use and there are lots of tutorials. (It is also WYSIWYG, point and click but it can do HTML and meta tags etc.).
