Video to DVD - is it possible for me?

Is it possible with an up to date laptop (with DVD Burner), VCR and DVD(not recorder) to record from videotape to DVD?

Yes it is.

You will need a video capture card of some sort though and the right software.

If you purchase a video capture card you should get some software with it which you can then use to record your videos straight to DVD.

...mmm...well if you are having to buy a Video capture card you could just buy a DVD recorder and miss out the PC altogether...dub the recordings direct fom tape to dvd...

I do that and then put the discs into my PC via the DVD drive for editing if neccessary using Nero............commoner.
