I think he/she might mean in order to decode the encrypted entertainment (top-up TV etc.) or the secret id swapped adult content ones.

I think the answer is almost certainly "Yes it is possible".

Like a lot of these things to do it from scratch will be so time consuming and possibly destructive of FreeView boxes as to make it cheaper just to pay for the extra channels in the usual way.

What is so wrong in paying for a commodity that you desire? If someone pinched your bike/scooter/car and then said that transport should be free anyway, I am sure you would not agree. If you had written a novel, taken years to do it and were receiving your daily income from it, then someone copied it and gave it out for free, I am sure you would have something to say!
