If you're in a Telewest area, try that - I've had it for years and I'm happy with it. Telewest has merged with NTL, though not much has been said about that since the original news release a little while ago, but that might mean you'd be getting the same service if you're in an NTL area.

I recomend Virgin to my customers,

package 2 @17.99 is 2Mbit (40 times faster than dial up) and 6GB download allowance.

Stable reliable and simple no Yahoo browser etc just use internet explorer or firefox browser

web mail or outlook / outlook express compatibility.

Paid support is 25p per min and they answer the phone from an English call center!!

I have just changed to Wanadoo wireless and talk 14.99 for first 6 months and free evening &weekend calls .17 .99 after this period . I am 75 and had no problems setting it up . in fact have now bought a couple of wireless adaptors from them to use another computer in bedroom and laptop all very easy.
Further to my earlier post about Telewest: uncapped (no download limit), helpline (UK based) is charged at local rates, charges are: current 1Mb, now upgrading to 4Mb, 25/mth (20 first 3 mths)... current 4Mb, now upgrading to 10Mb, 35/mth. If you want slower, 512kb, now upgrading to 2Mb, 15/mth. Hope this helps.
