Received real player attachments - cannot connect to the server - what can i do to open them?

When trying i get the following message -

Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server. The server name might not be correct, the server might not be available, or your proxy settings might not be correct.

How can i avoid this?

I already have media player - it just doesnt connect. sometimes when opening attachments i get a message saying the file is the wrong type even if its a real player file.

Dear mkjuk

You need to be clearer here. Windows Media Player is not the same as Real Player.

So if you don't have Real Player then you will need to download it to open Real Player attachments.
