making a dvd slideshow

can anybody advise me on how to make a dvd slideshow using digital photos to show on the family dvd? I have windows XP and a program called Sonic but I think I need to upgrade this.

Is there any good free downloadable software out there or do I have to purchase something?

Any advice would be welcome as I'm not really good with computers (yet!)

What about Windows Movie Maker that should come free with XP and would seem to do what you need - Ive got a programme called Magix Photos on CD &DVD which is OK aswell.

download HP memories disc creator it's simple to use you can add music to your photos as well. I have made several dvd photos shows with this.
