Wife has a GIFGAF pay as you go.

£10 credit has lasted over a year so far.

Be more practical for sister to give you a spare key or fit extra ringers for her doorbell.

A mobile phone is a bit over the top as a doorbell .

Couldn't you just ring her landline? At least that won't have a flat battery

how will jj be able to ring her landline from the car without a mobile barry?

Barry I would need mob in case of other emergencies.   She doesnt have doorbell just a little door knocker. Barry I'm looking for a phone about £10-£20. That's it.   😂

I saw wee cheapies on eBay but I know nothing about them. What does unlocked mean and also does a phone work without a sim

You can't make phone calls without a SIM card.  Unlocked means you can use a Sim card from every network, you don't have to use a particular one.

Don't buy a 3G phone, that signal will be turned off soon

Argos is selling a 4G Nokia 105 for £24.99, SIM free

Question Author

Does that mean. I have to buy cheapie phone then buy a sim.  How much is a sim

I removed my own answer because it was a duplicate.

SIM cards are usually free but with Pay As You Go you pay upfront for the calls, text and data. Prices vary.

This SIM might suit you

jennyjoan, pay as you go sim cards are free, you can pick them up in supermarkets and other shops, pop it in the phone, the register it with choosen network of you choice, giff gaff or tesco mobile are cheap..buy a £10 credit topup.

Ok am a bit enlightened about mobs but i will look better if I get my big PC tomorrow. Typing on this tablet does ma lid in. But ta ta everybody

I thought you already had a mobile phone and wanted to buy it for your sister.

As you have mentioned several times that you have difficulty using a landline because of your hearing problems maybe you need a mobile that is designed for that.

This is not a smart phone, it is an 'old fashioned' simple mobile phone that is amplified to make calls easier to hear.  It is for calls and texts only and is easy to use.

It uses 2G technology which is supposed to be kept going until at least 2033.  A bit more expensive but not outrageous
