When buying a new mobile on Pay as you Go from Vodafone they ask you to pick a plan and top your credit every four weeks. If you pick a plan and credit for the first month and then stop paying for the plan thereafter what happens? Can they take away the first amount credited?

That appears to be the 'bundles' system, which is now the most common way to use PAYG. Using that system, each month is entirely independent of any other. So you can use Plan A for one month, Plan B for the next one, Plan A again for the 3rd month and Plan C for the 4th one. You can also stop paying altogether at any time, either for a short period or forever.

In practice though, most people set things up so that the same amount is taken from their bank account each month until they decide to change their plan or pull out of the arrangement altogether. Either way though, your service provider won't take any money from your account without your permission.

Thanks Buenchico, as usual you are a tower of knowledge.
Shop around, check the price of the phone at Amazon, Argos, the supermarkets, everywhere. Very sometimes have excellent offers.

Mr M has a pAYGo phone and about to change. He uses £10 about every 6 months! So if we buy a £10 bundle does this mean he will have to top up each month?
Maydup, depends on who he gets the SIM card from and the PAYG plan he chooses.
This might suit him
