I'm assuming my phone has been hacked. .
Never happened to me before so it's a guess.

I downloaded AVG free antivirus that I used on a laptop a few years ago but it's not helped.

Can anyone help a 'old' damsel in distress, please.

Being 'hacked' may not show up on a virus scan.

Your laptop is likely to be Windows, your phone not. Maybe that is why it didn't work.

What makes you think it's been 'hacked' ?
I've never known any phone to actually be hacked. (The 'phone hacking' which was allegedly used by some newspapers years ago was actually only getting into people's voicemails, rather than being able to hear their phone calls).

So what's the actual problem that you're having with your phone, Thisoldbird?

My guess, Thisoldbird, is that the word you're actually seeking is 'malware'. That's why I've provided the link above, which will hopefully help you to get rid of it.
