I have just tried to log onto btinternet, but I get a message saying that my connection is not secure and that hackers may be accessing my information. I tried this on another device and got the same message.

Has anyone else experienced problems today? Or is it just me and my devices are both compromised in some way?

I've been on the internet, via BT, this morning, this afternoon and this evening... and haven't had a single problem.

First you need to run an anti-virus scan on all of the devices you use to access your email. It's important to do this before changing your password. You'll then need to log in at www.bt.com/login email to change your password and follow the security advice offered."
Just tried it on Firefox and got the same problem. I reckon it's a problem with their server (the app works OK)
I have the same problem. after 30 mins I finally got through on the phone - BT are aware there is an issue and are working to resolve it.

It's not just you, Barmaid. I've just tried to get to the login page (even though I don't use BT Internet myself) on with Slimjet, Chrome and Edge (all of which are based upon the same 'developer level' browser) and with Firefox (which uses entirely separate architecture). I've been seeing the same message as you in every case.

It seems that BT's website has an invalid security certificate. Such an error usually occurs with 'small scale' websites, where the owner has forgotten to pay the subscription to renew their certificate. It shouldn't happen with the 'big boys', such as BT.

However, whatever the reason, the BT site is currently trying to use an invalid security certificate (which proves that the 'https' secure connection is genuine). So LOADS of people are experiencing problems with the site at the moment:

If you urgently need to access your email, try using an app instead of web-based access to your account. (On a PC, the easiest app to use is probably the Windows 10 Mail app, or its Windows 11 equivalent, simply because it's already installed). On a mobile device, the default mail app (whatever that might be) should suffice.

If you're trying to access the BT website for any other reason though, you'll just have to wait until the problem has been fixed at their end.

Although it is jolly inconvenient because a group of us are writing wedding speeches and all the info is on there.
Your modems have probably been infected by the "Insecure Connection" virus. You'll be asked for your bank details to get it cleaned up, next.
