This offers a free download of Photoshop CS. I don't understand what this is, as all the Photoshop versions cost a lot.

If you read the download specs you will see it is a free trial

If you click through the links, you'll find that you're simply taken to Adobe's (genuine) website, where there's a free trial version of the program available.

Use GIMP instead. It's free and just as good as Photoshop:

There was a time when Adobe did give away a free version of CS2. It was for those who “already” had the version but was put on as a free version as a fix for the fact that Adobe had turned over the activation server.
