Have you tidied it away with any wrapping or boxes connected with the tree?
Any micro usb cable will do the job - have you got one you use for anything else?

Barry never used USB etc but had a look at a bunch of wires knocking in drawers but nothing matches. They look like old telephone wires.

I'd only be guessing JJ, I'm sure someone more technical will link something.
Question Author
no doubt the thing will turn up after I buy a new one. I'll have another hoke tomorrow - think in my senior moment - oh I think I will put this into another socket which will be handy to charge but alas no sign - it would have been either the kitchen or hall.
JJ, you did use USB - the micro usb is the end that goes in to the Fire.
The other end goes in to a USB port in the charger or PC.

This is the sort of cable you need

Or this sort that can only go in to a mains wall socket

thanks Barry - both would do but I always kept the USB thing always with the plug - I never ever separated them. I will give it a go hunting tomorrow then I will get the plug one. Thanks Barry again.

If you only unplugged it from the socket and not the Firestick itself, its not hanging down out of sight at the back of the tv is it?
Question Author
getting on - it's not the Firestick re the TV - it is Fire tablet/ipad
Question Author
Lol - the good thing - whilst hoking and poking here in the computer room - it got a good dusting - at last.
Sorry, i misunderstood.
Depends how old your kindle is... Before 2020 they are mostly ok with a micro usb but the newer ones have a different charger port which takes a different sturdier charger it was brought in to correct a big failure problem.
Question Author
actually when I misplaced the charger some time ago I found a phone charger that sort have fitted but not quite - it done the job a few times and so I have tried to use that phone charger today but no can do.

When I missed it today it was getting dark so I'm sure it is lurking about somewhere.

My neighbours'/friends' children change their Ipads/devices all the time and so if I don't find it - I will ask if they have a spare one. I have already asked my niece but she just received her booster tonight and so I told her to take it easy.

I have this computer so am not without internet completely.

What is annoying me is these "senior moments" because I remember saying to myself "now put this somewhere where you can get at it easy enough!
Question Author
ok - still haven't found charger with plug BUT inadvertently found the USB thingmajig. Genuinely don't know where what device it came from as I have only bought one Ipad.

Stuck the two things into computer and Ipad just charging.

It says "charging slowly" - is there any thing I need to switch off to quicken the charge. Thanks
Question Author
just bumped this a little - anybody help - thanks. charger has been on 30 minutes but only 4% charge
