Did you watch The Toy Show? The children were fantastic. The little girl vet! Brought tears of joy to my eyes!

gness, this time last year I was in hosp begging the drs to take my legs off, we only had the one channel - rté 1 and I was in no mood for kids, last night I just loved every minute, I donated - why not and I loved every child xxx I loved the kid singing we could be giants, the mad rocker kid at the end - I am still on high over it x and Ryan sayng ah *** when the fanta sprayed all over the place and I am so happy, no dr listened to me and took my legs off as I listened to Saoirse who was in hosp same time as me and did have an amputation - I hate my lymphatic legs but I will live with them xx
Ab censored it, get dave to show ya this - again - on fb https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2172666209534017
I saw it too and was in awe of the talent and the organisation required. Ryan Tubridy is fantastic with children. He should get some kind of award for his presenting skills
There was a photo of sneem on social media last week and the chat went to a famous boxer from sneem, I never mentioned I 'know' a relative of that same boxer x
Awe elliemay - so delighted you said that, that poor chap, d'ya know he vomits before every show - he was chatting to Doireann and Eoghan on the breakfast show on 2fm and he felt the whole of ireland's good vibes lay on his shoulder and I think he was correct cos look at the 5+ million the show raised afterward - he truly had a captive audience and no telethon (back in the day_) would have raised that in 24 hours
Yes, Ducksie, incredible that 5+ million was reached in 2.5 hours!
It was, ya know - Ryan won't get a reward, nor will he seek one, the reward for him is in the money raised for the charity and that the Toy Show went ahead despite the odds, I have to say, well done to all at RTÉ for putting on a great show and including the diaspora- the choir were fab and Gary Barlow - I loved every moment - even the crazy rocker near the end that got the guitar from the Edge haha

We recorded it, Ducksie but I knew when Ryan opened the Fanta that's when it was going to happen. His face! He was quiet for a few seconds.

I'm sorry about your legs that they're bad enough you'd want them off. Saoirsa was great and her leg's beautiful...in fact a lovely family.

Hi, Ellie. He should indeed get some sort of award. He's been great all through this but his interaction with children is wonderful. As you say the talent is jaw dropping but even just the children talking is to be admired.

Didn't see the Sneem thing, Ducksie. He was a wrestler. Did you see the statue then? The family is still doing some outstanding things. His great niece will be in the news when virus this is over. I'll get Dave to let you know what and when. Should be good news for Ireland if all goes well..x

Gary Barlow was lovely...x

Did you both see Ryan with Gaye's wife? He didn't need to interview or draw her out! Perfect chat show guest.... :-)
Ahhh gness, I will look forward to that, yrs ago - my niece - a bit removed - was on the toy show wanting to be a vet,she is that now, nothing like supervet but in this town, she is a supervet - ryan himself was once a contributor on the toy show as a kid reading books - ya never know where ya end up on that show, as Gay Byrne used to say - it started on the late late show. U2 were first seen on it as were boyzone, that crazy rocker kid at the end, who knows - we could see him some day, cringe and then go, oh wow :)
Yes, it was a brilliant show and I loved every minute of it too. It's definitely a credit to Ryan and everyone involved at RTE. I don't think anywhere else could put on a show to equal it
tis just Gay no e gness, K watkins and my parents have so much in common, both Kay and gay, got Married within a week of each other in the same church - that where it ends haha my mam used to work in the boarding school K watkins was in

Indeed you never know, Ducksie. Just like Boyzone!
You've reminded me of the three children who were given the gift of books for a year. The joy they expressed when they heard that was heart lifting.
I agree ellie :) still all aglow today for it
Every part of it was uplifting gness, books are fab too
// that crazy rocker kid at the end, //
I don't know exactly why but he reminded me of Meatloaf!
Yes, Ducksie, I was thinking about it all day
Same here ellie - he was mad, yet, he reminded me of my late brother, that loved meatloaf, his little frame - his mad ways and his belief that he was fab haha
Thank you for this thread, all sounds wonderfully inspiring and just reading this has been an antidote to much of what has been on site today. x
