Lockdown, social spacing and quarantine have been a disaster generally speaking.
The young are ignoring masks and sanitisation and the elderly are more complient.
The law seems to be impotent.
This virus will not go away until a vaccine is produced which will be a game changer.
That is my view based on personal experiences in a UK seaside town.
We are now in a state of modified herd immunity....the weak and the aged will be sacrificed to the benefit of the younger members of society.

To be quite honest, with all the conflicting advice and it being the young who are missing out most (young people being more social than older generations), I can’t really blame them.
I’m glad I’m not a 20-something with all this going on and being led by a completely incompetent Govt.

This has been going on for some time now. If them ignoring ‘advice/rules/laws/guidance’ or whatever the heck the Govt are calling the shambles of the information we’re receiving was going to cause a huge spike, it would have happened by now.
That's quite probably true. The most vulnerable people still need to be extra careful. Sqad, do you think that these face coverings are genuinely helping, or not, out of interest?
The problem is... we need a balance. If the whole economy goes, that is no help to anybody- and particularly the weak and elderly.
Yes i totally agree.
ZM, you are quick to criticize the government so what is your solution to the Coronavirus problem?
I agree with Sqad.
Masks are open to debate, eg we had an anti mask demo the other day. It didnt last too long though.

I agree Zac,that may well be so.....but as I mentioned there will be a price to pay.
Pixie.......I have no idea about the efficacy of the face mask except to say that in "crowded "situations it may have some value.
If anything just the exact opposite. Young people are being sacrificed to protect the old.
I wouldn’t actually go as far as to say that but as your post amounts to a troll I’ll troll back :-)
I totally agree with ZM - and for every health expert and scientist suggesting one thing there is an equal and opposite contradicting it.
I agree with ZM too fwiw

The great advantage of the mask is that it reduces the smell of the great unwashed.
Thanks sqad x I am unsure, as the type we have to wear while working with vulnerable people, are nothing like the type I can wear into a shop...
But, also, what happens if we can't get young, fit, healthy people back to work? Unemployment is rising by the day here, and I'm not sure how we are supposed to support everybody, with no businesses, jobs and workers.
Odd. I thought you lived in Spain not an English seaside town
I think he moved back. I agree with zacs too...
Even odder! As far back as I can remember sqad has been telling us how superior everything is in Spain from healthcare to his club to the climate. I am very surprised you came back to dreary britain sqad!

Bednobs......we moved back to UK almost 3 years ago.
Wasnt it reported recently that huge gatherings on english beaches didnt up the number of new cases, whereas in Spain it did!
Imho the simple reason is most Spanish are touchy feely in public. Plus re: the lack of mask wearing and hand sanatising among the young, is cuz thats the mothers job to ensure they behave responsibly.End of rant!
Young people from time immemorial have looked on themselves as invincible. Dreadful things happen to other people, not them. I fancy it will always be so. In this case they could probably be right if they can carry the virus and pass it on with few or no symptoms themselves.
Sqad explained at the time. The collapse of a Spanish bank left him seriously out of pocket.

bednobs be assured,it wasn't the NHS that enticed us back and yes I do rate the Spanish health service on a par with the " envy of the world"
Doris has made many cock ups over the last few months, and still making them, the biggest one believe it or not was letting Cummings off the hook. When you have a lazy sloppy PM don't expect to get any respect in the future, or now, from young people, or old for that matter.
