I've got AOL Broadband, Silver and am wirelessed up on a laptop using a BT line.

I didn't think wireless necessarily needed Gold, just that you could download/upload music, photos, large emails plus you got other additional features. I thought you just needed broadband for wireless.

You would need to buy a wireless router suitable for Cable (like I bought one suitable for BT ADSL). I think NTL broadband enabled area just means that you can get broadband in your area using NTL. (AOL had to check that my BT line was suitable for broadband - something to do with the distance from the telephone exchange to your house, so in your case it's the equivalent of NTL saying they've already checked and it's ok).

You do need to check that your laptop is wi-fi enabled (ie it's got a wireless card already built in) otherwise you'll have to add a wireless adaptor.

Lets see what the other techie's have to say..... (I may well be totally wrong here, but it works for me)

As far as I know you need to have a BT phoneline for AOL - I use NTL broadband and have no complaints with it
