Check the scart plug at the rear of the tv. Sometimes the sound goes off if it is loose.

No that was the first thing i checked, it's the bedroom tv and my husband was the last to use it, he said when he realised there was no sound he kept pressing all the buttons!

Have you unplugged it from the main socket for a minute then plugged it back in again, if that doesn’t work, you might have to go to settings and run a a full restart
