Following my recent upgrade to W10 I seem to have picked up Bing as a search engine whilst adding some old favourites. I've checked YouTube and tried a few suggestions and even when I delete Bing from my search engine options and checked/ selected Google, then retarted the pc, up pops Bing search page again. Most annoying !

Any help out there, please ?

Cheers.

1) Download Google Chrome and set it as your default browser. 2) Follow the instructions here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4028574/microsoft-edge-change-the-default-search-engine

Hate bing and Microsoft pushing it on to you, my first stop is always to delete it and add my preferred browser.
Just to be clear, Bing isn't a browser - it's a search engine.
I have to say, Bing is rubbish. Whenever I've used it, the results are so useless I just go to Google, do the same search and find what I'm after.
I agree about Bing being rubbish. I have no idea why it is pushed so much.
I'm still using W7. Not had a problem.
10Ct I am still using W7, but not sure about Microsoft's messages about not supporting it anymore.
Warning on the TV the other day about bank security on W7.
Am not a techy so don't know details.
You won't get any more security updates via automatic downloads. MS says this will make your PC more prone to hackers and security breaches. Having seen Chris's post (Buenchico) some time ago, I am staying with W7. I'll try and find his post for you Tony and post a link.
......However - I am not using W7 for online banking or any financial transactions. I use Mrs Clarions' laptop with W10 on.
OK thanks 10cs will transfer my banking to a different PC, with later version of windows.

Thanks everyone but Bing is still unmoved !
I've followed all instructions in the link provided by Jimf and cleared Bing from the list of search engines but it's still full screen when I restart the pc and log on using the Firefox logo.
Do you think a Firefox uninstall and clean re- install would help ?

Remember I'm not all that computer savvy.

Cheers.

In Firefox go to Options/Settings/Search scroll to 'Default Search Engine' choose the one you want, close Firefox. Start Firefox and try it out

Thanks, Alice.

Just tried that, my default search engine is shown as Google, but when I open Firefox it still comes up with the Bing search panel !

Hmm. Varying replies. I am more than happy with Bing. I am a Google free zone because I detest their politicising the web and using it to manipulate opinion. Has anyone noticed the trouble that I encounter finding things using Bing? Thought not. Just a word to the wise Derek. I see that you are already being encouraged to load up your lappie with new and exciting apps and extensions. Don't. Glad you got 10 loaded and I would have advised you to load up the new Edge Beta browser( Edge came with W10) and to wait and see before potentially overloading the lappie with background activity. Particularly bolt on "security" programmes that will bring it to a halt. Use defender and just install Trusteer Endpoint that runs unobtrusively alongside Defender and is an added layer of protection for monetary transactions. Have you switched on the "syncing" facility and imported all your old bookmarks/favourites?
Different opinion on Trusteer Rapport here,
https://computing.which.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/115005579745-Should-you-use-Trusteer-Rapport-

In Firefox go to Options/Settings/Search scroll further down to 'one click Search Engines' highlight Bing and remove it.

I use Bing as well because you get some links different to Google. Use Google the most because I like it.
Togo each to their own then, I'll stick to Google.

Done that, Alice.I had removed Bing from both lists earlier. A mystery indeed.

Togo, how do I find the Sincing facility, please ?
Derek... Click on the windows icon bottom left of screen in the task bar. Then click on the little cog that says settings when you hover the cursor.
Then click on Accounts. (good idea to have a gentle look around in here to set any preferences etc. You will even see your email settings in there)
Then in accounts at the bottom of the menu you should see "sync your settings" Turn on what is appropriate to you in there.

Just a gentle hint Derek..... you should really have been having a look around in the settings before launching yourself into a whole sett of downloads. I know that w10 came with a series of tips and hints on using the new operating system but you are like most of us, we refuse to read the instructions. Haha.
Favourites....
Click on the star with stipes top right above the tool bar.
The favourites menu is now open . Click on manage favourites. and from the resulting menu import from a previous browser that you were using before w10.
