Why is my computer sooo sloooow.? Fed up of watching the circle going round and round. I could go and cook a three-course meal and bake a cake and when I come back it would still be going round and round and round. I don't know what info you need from me, but please ask away if you think you can help. Thanks. x

Impossible to tell without much more information. For starters:

1) make and model
2) amount of RAM
3) total hard disk size
4) free hard disk space
5) operating system version
Is the wifi signal up to strength ?. Try rebooting your router.
Question Author
Thanks Jim and Tony. Ok, the model is Acer Veriton.
No idea how to find out the amount of RAM, or the total hard disk size or the free hard disk space or the operating system version. I should have warned you I don't know the first thing about this. Tony wifi signal how do I know if it's up to strength? Does it not reboot when I switch it off at night? I have a car and I consider myself to be a good driver but I've never once opened the bonnet. :-).If it's too late for you to sort me out, please come back to me tomorrow if you can. x
Turn the router off and then turn it back on again, Barsel. That'll reboot it.
"or the operating system version"

You really don't know what operating system is running your computer?
Question Author
Ok I think I know what you mean Tony. The little button on the side, yes I will try that.
Jim *You really don't know what operating system is running your computer?* No, how would I know that, where will it say?
Question Author
Jim, do you mean which version of windows? If you do, it's windows 10.
You can supply more details by typing into the search box 'system'. In the best match choices click on "About your PC" .Specifications will be shown on the Windows that then opens. On that same Window scroll down to 'Storage' and that will give current status of your HDD.

I suspect you've got too many processes running at the same time using up too much Ram memory. Quite a few can be switched off, but we cannot advise you any further without more info.
i get the spinning circle but only on answerbank? i keep pressing f5

I suspect the lack of space on the hard drive is to blame, as similar problems have occurred many times on my computer. If you clean your computer regularly, you don't have this problem. Otherwise, I can't think of any other reasons.

Thanks hans , I saw that you recommended ** Or running a Windows inbuilt 'Disc Clean-up'.** How do I do that please?
Sorry for the delay in responding to your posting at 10.26.

Anyway I see that you started another thread re 'Disc Clean Up' and have found out what to do. However, I am going to add a rider in that that particular thread.
