Like many UK phone service providers, Cricket Wireless sells phones that are 'locked' to its network. That's to enable them to sell phones for less than they actually buy them for, with the company then making their profits from the call charges run up by the user. So they're not going to unlock a phone for anyone until they've made some money from the deal.
