I have a Canon MP220 pixma all in one printer. Had it afew years but still going strong. Only problem is when I scan something, all is well apart from then when I print it out it is very faint. All my other print outs are printed perfectly. There is enough ink. Any ideas ?

Can you alter the scan parameters, perhaps?
Question Author
Tilly sorry I don't know what that means
Perhaps you can alter the printing 'depth' of the scan, Tamaris. I don't know really. Just trying to be helpful. :-)
Question Author
Haha yeah I wish I had a 5 year old here to help at times.
Have a look at 'properties' on the scan option. There might be something there.

OK
Much as I love Canon printers, I've just taken a serious dislike to the way that they present their manuals. Instead of being able to download a pdf file (or perhaps 1 or 2Mb), I've had to download a 200Mb zip file, unzip it and install a program on my computer in order to (try to) read the manual. However it turns out that the program isn't compatible with Windows 7 anyway, so I still can't view it anyway! Grrr!

However, having looked at the on-screen manual for my own Canon printer (MG5350), it seems that (if yours is somewhat similar) you might find something useful there:

Go to Start > All Programs and click on the folder which says something like 'Canon MP220 series Manual'. Then click on the sub-entry for the manual itself. Look in the contents list for 'Troubleshooting' and click on it. Then do the same for 'Problems with scanning'.

With my own printer's on-screen manual there's a section about print being too light. Hopefully you'll find something similar and be able to make use of it.
Sorry to butt in, tamaris, but there is some spam for you in Food and Drink, Buenchico
^^^ I've just seen your post, F-F.

I assume that you're referring to the Italian lady who was seeking recipes for her husband (but who just happened to include a web link as well). I spotted that one fairly quickly!

Thanks all the same though ;-)

Thanks Chris I will have a look x

Hi Chris I do not find the all programes on my computer or anything similar to get to where you say.
You will need to download the on screen manual to you pc from the canon website Tamaris....It will not be there if you have not already downloaded it. You will need to visit the canon support page and enter in your printer details and click manuals. You should find what you need in there. I love my Canon Pixma 410, but when I scan I usually load to my pc and print from there if I need a hard copy. If you download the on screen scanning guide you will find a section there ref. scanning resolution.

You can also start application software from MP Navigator EX to edit or print the scanned

For detailed operations of MP Navigator EX, refer to the Scanning Guide on-screen manual.
You can also use the Operation Panel to open MP Navigator EX as well as open it using the
computer.
See "Opening MP Navigator EX using the Operation Panel" on page 20.

Hi Togo mine is an mp220 don't see it on the list
Question Author
Sorry I didn't see you had posted twice. I have sent email to Canon for help in the meantime.
Question Author
Thanks Togo
Tamaris I would think that the manual for the MP210 or the MP230 would probably get you there. Both are listed on the first link I posted. If you have emailed Canon it may be as well to see what they say. Always found them very helpful with cameras and printers in the past.
Now that link detected my operating system.....in case it does not recognise yours I will post it again so that you can enter your system into the box provided.
