.ismv Files From Bbc Store

I bought a program from the BBC Store, and downloaded it. It came to my machine as am .ismv file. Nothing I've got will open or convert an .ismv file.

Any ideas how to handle it? Asking the BBC is not a good option, although I suppose I'll have to try...

.ismv files are a Microsoft streaming media format so, assuming you are running Windows, you could try using Windows Media Player to run it. Failing that, I can only suggest is that you try to find something which will convert it to MP4 format - a Google search for convert .ismv to MP4 may turn something up.

BBC answer is that only BBC Store Downloader will play their own generated .ismv files. Seems a bit over-controlling as I did pay folding money for me download!

Yes you did pay real money for it, which you will get back in some form when the BBC store closes in November.

Apologies for my slur on the BBC Store - they did try their best, and I did end up with a good clean copy of the film I'd bought. The BBC Store Downloader is a bit 'clunky', and not 100% reliable, but it worked eventually.
