I have just bought my first AV (Audio Visual) Amplifier.

I have connected up all the sound so my TV, Sky, DVD, and VCR all play through my 6 speakers.

But I cannot see the benefit of putting the picture through the receiver. The Sky, DVD and VCR are all connected directly via scart sockets so what benefit do I get by putting them through the receiver?.
