Is it possible to listen to Swedish radio in England other than via the internet?

Apparently, Radio Sweden broadcast on 15,275 kHz short wave at certain times. Check http://www.sr.se/rs/english/ for details. You'll need a short wave radio and a dedicated antenna. The radio might need to be quite good, but the antenna can be made simply yourself, but you best get a book out of the library on this as they need to be specific dimensions.

Ralph's answer is for the English language transmissions. If this is what you require, follow his link and then click on 'Europe,Africa, Mid East' at the top left. This will show you the times at which Radio Sweden transmit in English and the relevant frequencies. (NB: the times are UTC. This is the same as GMT). Don't be put off by Ralph's comments about a dedicated antenna. I've been listening to short wave transmissions from Sweden (and writing about international radio for various magazines) for nearly 40 years. Just make sure you've got a decent short wave receiver (Roberts is a reliable brand) and you'll have no problems getting a good signal just using the telescopic antenna.

You can also receive Radio Sweden in English at certain times on Sky Digital Channel 872. Details are on the same page as the frequency list.

Once again, note that all times are UTC (=GMT). You'll also need to check the beam direction of the transmissions. (You should be able to receive broadcasts on the 220 degrees narrow beam transmission or on the 140 degrees to 240 degrees wide band transmission). With a good quality receiver you should also be able to pick-up Swedish language transmissions on medium wave (1179kHz) at the times shown. (Remember that a portable receiver uses an internal aerial for medium wave and not the telescopic one. So you'll need to turn the receiver to get the best reception).

Unfortunately, Swedish language transmissions are not available on the satellite which provides Sky UK services. To pick-up Swedish radio on satellite, you'd need another dish
