The Oatmeal stout and the Chestnut ale look interesting, Chris.
Go for the second train tomorrow.

Unfortunately they don't do B&B here, Tony ;-)

Peerless is a new brewery to me (unless, possibly, I've simply not been able to remember drinking their beers in the past!) but, based upon the flavour of this ale, I'll be keeping an eye open for more of their products in the future.
So will I ( keep an eye out ), Chris.
You had me confused. I'm thinking, "What's Chico doing in Lancashire?" till I realised it was the other Bury.
Question Author
You're not the fist to be confused, JD33.

The lane markings, painted on the roads in Ipswich (etc), simply read 'Bury' and several northerners have told me that they've found it confusing!

'fist'? 'FIRST'!!!

This beer must be stronger than I thought!
Oh don't get stranded Chris, but enjoy :-)
Enjoy Chris and thank you x

I've hitched home, after midnight, plenty of times before, Anne (in my 'trade plating' days) but I have to admit that the idea of doing it tonight doesn't exactly appeal to me! (It's about 50 quid by taxi if I really get stuck!)

I hope that you, Psybbo and everyone else are all enjoying something nice to drink tonight - even if it's only your favourite brand of hot chocolate!
Glad you're enjoying yourself. If you're ever in E. Riding seek out Wold Top beers. V. Good, micro-brewery. They probably have a website. :)
Our local pub sells it, we are friends with one of the deliverymen, it's very good beer, something for every taste - I prefer lighter, Mr J2 likes the bitter. :)
I wouldn't mind giving the Marmalade Porter a try.

Aaagh!

They've run out!

I've switched to 'Gold Rush' from a local brewery (St Peter's), here in Suffolk. It's a rather nice pint too! (However almost anything is this pub is usually very good. One of these days I'll try their 18yo Japanese whiskey - at £14.00 per shot!).

Thanks for the info, J2 and Tony.
East riding? Sadly the ridings went out over 40 years ago.
I'm sending you £28 Chico, make it a double.
Nope, Jackdaw. In fact there was a huge celebration the other week in Beverley to celebrate the re-establishment of the E. Riding 20 years ago. A friend sang in the choir. Insofar as Yorkshirefolk in general are concerned the North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire (especially S. Yorks.) are mere imposed administrative conveniences - and as for Humberside......
I am very lucky my local is owned by the Rossendale Brewery Co. (For our southern friends, that is a stones throw from Bury).
Not only do I get access to some great real ale, brewed locally and very fresh, but I pay £2.40 a pint for my favourite ale (some are even cheaper).

The Holts pub around the corner is even cheaper, but Holts is a bit of an acquired taste, and you need to have been brought up on it from the nipple.
I could never understand why South/West ridings became South/West Yorkshire whilst the East riding became North Yorkshire. Think of me, I used to live in Northumberland but now have to live in Tyne and Wear.
Totally agree with you about Holts' Gromit, I can't stomach it at all yet others swear by it.
