Recently, I received in my mails an invitation to invest at the "Maerkt Baumann &COAG", a private bank at 54 Lombard St. London, UK.   Tel#:  (+44) 779638 7085.  They can act as a Trust also and do business with another similarly big investment organization called "Hallmark Fiduciary" at  Amsterdam, Netherlands.  Tel#:  31 (20) 612773858.

Can you tell me if both these organizations were  really existing and commercially active entities  and not a scam.to swindle investor's money.

Google destop warns us that scams are prevalent among the Nigerians, Spain and Netherlands all over the world.

Thank you.

You do not say if this is an e-mail or a letter mail.

Either way I would steer very clear of them.

ONLY TRUST YOUR MONEY WITH SOMEONE YOU KNOW AND TRUST - NATWEST, BARCLAYS, ABBEY etc.

There are loads of scam artists out there only too happy to take your money and run.

I have had a search on the internet and can find no mention of them (assuming you have spelt it right). any company of note will now have a web site, or be mentioned on other financial web sites, another sign they are a bit dodgy.

After a bit more research I found this page:

http://www.swx.com/trading/participants/lists/participants_en.html

This mentions a company called Maerki Baumann & Co. AG in Switzerland. I can find no reference to them in Lombard st.

54 Lombard Street was the headquarters of Barclays Bank, but they have since moved out.

It may be the address has been put as 54 Lombard St to add a touch of class to the mail.

A lot of these scam people use company names that almost sound like real companies, and addresses that exist, they also use names like Hallmark to make them sound classy and official.

The phone number look like a mobile number to me as well. If it was in London it would begin 0208

I would still steer clear.

First things first - you are not allowed to put your personal e-mail on posts - it will be deleted when the Ed. sees it.

Second of all, you must beware of any unsolicited offers to 'invest' your money. Think about it - why would they choose you? Unless you are one of several thousand people mailed simultaneously on the basis that a 1% take-up makes the scam worthwhile. My advice would be to ignore it.
