I currently have tesco broadband on one computer in my house, my daughter has just come home with a second pc and wants to connect hers to the internet via my broadband. how do we go about setting this up as she really needs to get onto the internet as soon as possible, we are fighting over who gets on the internet first.
Many thanks

If the computers are in the same room then just get a wired router, but if they arent then get a wireless router, i'd recomend a linksys's router as they're very good quality and affordable. Go on their website and it'll tell you everything that you need. www.linksys.com then you just need to set the country for UK. Rich

As richb14 mentions, if in seperate rooms then a wireless router.

Basically you'd plug your ADSL modem into a wireless router.  Then a cable would connect the router to your PC (seeing that your PC is already connect by cable in that room).  The second PC, your daughters, would require a wireless network card to fit inside the computer (PCI).  Alternatively she could have a USB wireless plugin adapter.  The instructions provided with the wireless router would explain how to configure your daughters PC to connect to the router.  This will mean that both computers can use broadband at the same time.  Do check the security settings though since this could also allow you to access each others hard drives.

A lot of routers don't take a broadband USB modem - check! If you can find one, good, otherwise you will have to invest in an ADSL modem/router (the best method anyway?). Follow what KebabMeister says about a wireless network card (would recommend the PCI solution if there are enough slots left).

I would just get a wireless router rather than a modem/router since it's much, much cheaper (considering that you already have a modem - why buy something that you've already got?).  There are actually many wireless routers available now and are easy to connect a broadband modem to one.  I have my modem connected to a Linksys wireless router.
I think what wideboy was saying is that if the ADSL modem only connects to the computer via a USB cable, then you'll need a new modem. If it also has a ethernet port (RJ45 - http://tinyurl.com/cmvwl ) then you'll be fine as it is this port you'll use to connect the modem to the wireless router and then possibly to your computer as well.
If the two computers are in the same room then don't forget ICS (Internet Connection Sharing), All you will need is a patch cable to connect the two machines and then run "Network Wizard" on both machines - do the one connected to the broadband modem first. This will be the quickest & cheapest method.
