Mixing Print Cartridges.

I have a HP Photosmart C4680 3 in 1 printer, which takes HP 300 cartridges.

I always seem to run out of the black ink first, HP do a larger size of cartridges, would it be alright to perhaps use a larger capacity black ink cartridge along side the standard size tri-colour cartridge?
