Can I pick my rhubarb now without killing the plant and can I eat it without killing me?

Should be no problem - if the plants are older than 2 years, as advised here

pull rather than cut the stalks off, leaving the 'head' in the centre -this will produce more stalks. Why would it kill you? (don't eat the leaves obviously as they are not good for you)

"Kill me" is probably is exaggerating - I think at some times of the year there is to much acid in the stem
Just don't eat more than five and a half pounds of rhubarb at one sitting, as that could kill you.
