i think they are called " gifs " like the moving , live avatars you see on some websites. i want to save some for facebook, im using chromebook

They're just data files. How do you normally save files ?

Can you right click on it and choose 'save image' ?

i don't use facebook but a quick search suggests that you can't use a gif for your profile picture, it that's what you're intending to use it for

.gifs are not enabled as such on some websites including Facebook. So whilst you could copy and paste an image it would not be 'animated'

Remember just because a picture is on the internet, does not mean its copyright free.
