Is my computer capable of storing my letters and e mails on it in a totally different place?

I have a cupboard in the kitchen and I want to put my computer in there for the winter.  When I bring it back out in the spring (or early summer) will all the files and e mails still be accessible and will it talk to me again in the low dulcit tones it always uses.

Ooooh no, don't put it in a cupboard, it'll get all grumpy. Why not send it on holiday instead? Somewhere nice with palm trees and that. Then it will come back refreshed and thanking you effusively.

Why are you putting your computer in the cupboard over winter. They do not need to hibernate. Provided you have saved all your stuff it will still be there when it awakens in the spring.

Will

ensure that you re-format the hard drive before placing in storage.
