Hi,
I just have had a mail from a friend in the UK saying that they have had pc problems with not receiving all their mails. She has now mailed again to tell me that everything is fine now after her hubby was speaking with BT in India for over an hour and they could tell them that their PC had been compromised. I Googled that to see what it meant and found out that it wasn't a nice thing to happened to your computer.
My question is: Could this effect my computer/ipad in any way?

Only if you have done something foolish like run/installed something you didn't know where it was from, or opened up your PC to a bogus phone call.

Ensure you have a decent AV and run things to detect malware regularly from time to time.

Thanks OG, I haven't done any of the foolish things. I did have a phishing mail the other day from "PayPal" feeding me some very dubious story so I would give them my personal details...in their dreams. These sort of mails make me SO angry. There are also the spam mails from some poor deposed king or such in Africa who needs my assistance to move money around. Is there really anybody that can fall for that!!!
I can't imagine it, but to be safe e-mail me your bank details and I'll make sure no one else gets at your wealth.
What does occur to me is that if he had his e-mail directory stolen you could be in for excess spam. Or possibly even e-mails that look to have come from him, maybe.
