The Daily Wail posted some inappropriate pictures of the Thai royal family. One thing you cannot do in Thailand is insult or perceived to have insulted the Thai Royal Family in any way.

I was in Thailand about 4yrs ago and a young Swedish tourist after a surfeit of drink defaced a picture of their King. He was arrested by Thai police for his own safety, otherwise the populace was going to string him up immediately. Public opinion called for a death sentence.

Fortunately the Swedish Embassy secured his release with instant expulsion from the country. I understand that Swedish tourists have a difficult time trying to get into Thailand now.

Hans, I cannot read the link, it is blocked!
From going to Thailand for many years I do know that the 2 things you CANNOT do is insult the Thai Royal family or Buddha. I didn't realise that the Daily Mail had insulted the Royal Family, shame on them!!
Is distributing evidence of facts the same as insulting, or deemed inappropriate ? Surely a people has a right to know what their leaders are up to. But I guess if powerful folk tend to use that power to block that which embarasses them. Happens the world over.
That said i expect there are privacy laws.
And the princess does seem to be afflicted by some kind of blocky disease on her top half.
''Is distributing evidence of facts the same as insulting?''

^ I was about to post exactly the same.
Happens all over the world. Even our Royal family will 'block' or attempt to block the paparazzi from taking pictures.
