Ipad. How To Get Rid Of 'trash'

I don't mind 'junk' as often mail comes in from friends that should be in my 'normal' in-box, but what is the point of trash and how do I delete the whole thing completely?

It depends on which mail server you use (gmail etc) Which one is yours?

Not sure about Hotmail but Trash is normally the equivalent of the recycle bin on your desktop, there as a 'rescue' when you delete something you didn't mean to. They normally get rid of items after 30 days, you can usually configure it in settings if you want it shorter.

In Mail on the iPad, select Trash, press Edit at the top of the page, press Delete All at the bottom of the page to empty. As Fitzer says Trash is a buffer in case you delete a message in error. It gives you the opportunity to get it back
