Help! Got the bands, and hook tool, but no instructions! Googled for them but got totally confused, anyone recommend a site for a total beginner (old enough to know better too)?

Plenty of tutorials out there, You Tube will have videos too.

Go on you tube - the best ones are where a five year old girl explains how to do it (the grown ups go too fast!). Make sure the loom thing is the same as yours before you start, some have the pegs in straight rows and the fancy ones have the pegs on a wonk.

Should have said I haven't got the loom, want to do it on my fingers until I can get the loom pack
The loom bands are too small and pingy for adults to use their fingers, it would be really uncomfortable.

No,there's a wee crochet hook with the bands, which is fine, and have managed a basic bracelet remembering how it was shown on Breakfast a few weeks ago ,and thought I'd try it on the French knitting thing I have, I do love to fiddle!
Good luck with that mags2,you will probably get hooked, pardon the pun, creative looping!
I do not have a loom, I watched a video ( the finger method) by a girl about 8 yrs old on "you tube", and did some on my fingers. I agree it is a bit uncomfortable, the young girl said to try with a pair of chopsticks instead of fingers and that worked o.k.. I have orders now from my Grandchildren, useful Grandma !!

Nellibee, glad another gran is hooked, actually I told my great granddaughter I'd come to her for help! Have tried it on the French knitting thing and it will work.
