Can one flip out the keys of a very dirty keyboard so as to give them a good all over clean?

AOG - I have tried that a couple of times but got frustrated when it came to putting some of them back. I ended up buying a new keyboard.

My mice seem to have a short life span too.

Some keys are easier to replace than others. I'd not deliberately remove the caps were I you.

I reckon smear both with Kittychunks, and then let Tiddles into the room for a bit.

Refrain from removing keys, unless they fail to activate because of 'crumbs' underneath.

I regularly give my screens a wipe over with a damp dishcloth. Similarly my keyboards after they have had a going over with a mini vacuum cleaner, similar to the following. :-
