Removing Firefox

For a number of years I used Firefox as my main browser, without much trouble (Acer Aspire 5315 - Vista)
Some time ago I started getting all sorts of trouble which I narrowed down to the Nectar toolbar that I had downloaded.
I started using IE and didn't experience the problems I had experienced with Firefox, so I decided to uninstall Firefox from my computer
However, even though I have gone through the usual procedure from the control panel, Firefox will not uninstall.
Does anyone have any idea what I should do now?
