Would anyone know how to connect the Nexus 7 to the TV.? It is a Panasonic TV but not a Veira connection but sky. I have bought the wire connected it to tv and all it says is Tablet on the left hand screen. Thats it nothing else will come up. ?

Have you gone into 'source' and scrolled to the right one (HDMI1, etc etc)?
