How do I change permissions - to Administrator - in Windows 7? I am the only person who has ever used this computer. I intend to download Avast and get rid of MSE. TIA.

I have recently been running Malwarebytes ( Antimalware) on my PC & discovered that I needed to declare that I am Administrator in order for it to work properly. In order to do this I was advised to click on start ( bottom left) find the file & right click on it & select ''Run as Administrator'' this I did & it worked a treat. WR.

Have a look in ......... Start ........... Control Panel ........ User Accounts

... to see who is the current Admin, although, with only one user, I would have thought it was you anyway.

When you logon you only have temporary administration rights so if you make changes such as installing software then you have to reinstate the rights
