Our land line telephones crackle so badly you cannot hear the person on the other end of the line and they cannot hear you, Should:
(1) I contact my provider Plus Net
(2) I contact BT
(3) I buy new telephones

Any ideas please.

1 and 2 are not on. They will not be able to understand you!
I have the same problem. BT say they can't see anything wrong. We had the same problem with the last set of phones, so new ones are unlikely to help.
By provider, do you mean ISP? If so, mine said its nothing to do with them.
It might be worth trying BT, in your case.
Someone suggested it might be water in the junction box, but I don't know what that means or how to check it. If you find the answer, please post it, will you?
Plusnet are a division of BT.
Try it with a different phone plugged in (borrow one if necessary) plus any cables/splitters. After that if it still crackles then contact BT. Whenever this has happened to me it's needed BT to fix a fault in the exchange.
Bear in mind IF the problem is the phone and not the line you will be charged if BT come out and find this to be the case.
Water in a Junction Box would be outside of your property and BT's responsibility to put right, without cost to you.

I think I would start a check as indicated on the following link :-

We had the same problem recently. Unplug your broadband from the phone socket - if the crackle stops it's a dodgy ADSL filter. Fit new filter and hey presto - problem solved!
