Do they have access to an ipad or iPhone? If so there's an app called pocket universe which is amazing. You can point the device to the skies and it will tell you the names of stars and constellations. Not sure if it's available for android advices. It also has many other features such as an orary of our solar system.

Towards the end of every month, The Times carries an illustrated article about what the night sky will look like in the month to come. If there are to be any eclipses or comets or shooting stars these will be explained. Pop into your local Public Library to see which issue of the newspaper carries the monthly article, and then either you can photocopy it or you can buy your own issue.
