Is it considered rude to not respond to an email? Even if it is to just say, "I've got your message, thank you" - I do but wonder if other's do as well?

I think it is easy to forget to respond to people, for example you send off a cv, they reply that they have recieved it and you do nothing. I always think it is nice to say 'thanks for lettting me know'. However, this could go on for ever, with them answering me, me answering them and all the messages saying 'thanks for your message'. you have to stop sometime.
email was never meant to be like a telephone call. don't bother telling them you've got the mail, unless they specifically ask.

tips on organising your mail, so you dont forget to reply etc.
Also, just beware of responding to any junk mail you get, this confirms you have an active e-mail address and the flood gates will open if you do respond. Lots junk mail seems to guess e-mail addresses.
