A friend has an ipad2 he has updated to ios7 but his 'mail' is showing he has used 6.9gb.
He did not realise that emails are also available through safari and it sounds like he has spent last night deleting all 17,586 which he has not done since he bought his ipad almost 2 years ago.
With all his emails deleted and safari history cleared his usage for 'Mail' is still showing 6.9gb used.
He has also turned off and on again and soft rebooted.
Any one know if there is another way to delete them.
TIA

The opening post says he has already done that. Any other ideas
The emails are not on his iPad they are on iCloud. The figure of 6.9Gb used is external storage. He can go to iCloud and delete them there if he likes, but it won't give him anymore storage copacity on his iPad.
Has he deleted 'trash'?
This should be helpful

I am assuming that he is using Apple's Mail app.

Gromit no his iCloud is saying 5gb available his iCloud is turn off. Zacs-Master all of his email is clear inbox, sent, trash etc on both safari and 'mail'
The only thing we have found today is a forum where 2 other people have realised the same problem but no solution to it.
No doubt something will come up somewhere about it for a resolution.

Email from my mate with the ipad query
"Contacted apple direct ,they guided me down the path of deleting my popemail acct ,then sync with my pc,which when completed cleared the glitch and my usable usage went from 4.71 gb to 11.10 gb.hurray.thank you for your help..."

Seems like it was a glitch etc
Your iPad was never storing 7Gb of emails. They were all stored externally.
