Text Messages To Multiple People

Why are text messages not set up like emails whereby you can see everyone else that the sender has sent the texts to?
Recently I have had the need to have regular daily contact with my 5 siblings but as handy as texts are, sometimes it is hard to know whether a text you have received has been sent to everyone or just me. Would it not suit most people for texts to be more like emails in that regard?
