Well, fry me for an oyster! Anyway, I now feel free to migrate from PlusNet to BT and get all those luvly free sport goodies. Thank you both.
normchurch.....I have always been with BT; even from the days when I had a 'dial-up' internet connection. Never had any cause to complain and have always found its Call Centre staff most helpful; even those outside of the UK, who have a similar accent to mine.(Welsh that is) :-)

Go for it my lad.

Best wishes....Al.
Given that, what is the point in being with PlusNet?
Alston , is that North Walian, South Walian or mid-Walian ? Can understand Mid Wales as being abroad from the UK :)
I thought Plusnet was cheaper ?

Anyway I wish I could be as cheerful about BT. I've found their helpdesk staff unable to think straight or help; and on one occasion when they failed to get their bill to me I was cut off without warning. When they finally (!) agreed a reduction in my next bill to compensate the reduction failed to be on the whole bill as agreed, and didn't even pay for the days I was without service. Swindling bees ! I'm still with them as they don't demand DD and I can't be arsed to go elsewhere, but I'd never recommend them.
The point of being with Plusnet? Less expensive, excellent customer service, Which? Recommended Provider.
Goodness gracious me Fred. Shall I say boyo that, if you closely listened to what I says in AB you would realise that I am a Jacko from South Wales. :-)

A friend of mine has just moved to BT, for the Sport Channel and it has been a nightmare. Without going into too much detail, they locked him out because of suspicious activity (his attempt to activate the Sport). Except we didn't know that. We spent days trying to re set up. In the end it was apparent there was nothing wrong at our end so we attempted to call them. The first 4 days we gave up at 20 minutes (a phone company that cannot answer the phone!!!). On the last attempt we decided to wait as long as it took. They answered the call after 27 minutes. Tony in India was helpful, but could solve the problem, so he forwarded us to someone in the UK which was another 25 minute wait. That worked, she unlocked his account. It had taken the best part of a week and numerous phonecalls. We finally got back into the pirtal and attempted to activate BT Dport again, but we still couldn't and gave up.
I'm somewhat biased as I'm a BT pensioner. I think BT broadband is excellent and any problems I've had have always been resolved quickly by 'Tony' in India. The only real problem I've had was with BT billing in the UK.
