Watching Lynn tanking along the streets of Cromer in the excellent Alan Partridge Alpha Papa film, in her Mini Maestro got he thinking -

it is literally years since i have seen a Metro or a Maestro - where have they all gone?

I know they were rubbish, but surely some must still be about - heaven knows there are enough KA's around, and that's the ugliest thing on four wheels!

They've all been crushed and recycled in to something that reflects their original value, like a toaster or a nice kettle.

Based on their original value, I would have thought tin cans would have been a better use of their dubious bodies!
Too much rust. Nobody wants their baked beans leaking out of their shopping basket eh.

LOL!
there is a mini metro in the car park outside work, or there was earlier
Beware, there's still some out there!

My dad had a Montego, used to love it, but I think that's because our previous car was a Lada!!
there is a guy who lives not far from me, he has 3 maestro's in various stages of dilapidation, I love seeing old cars on the road, I was following a D reg cavalier yesterday, super stuff
My uncle used to have a 'Princess', I used to think it was great with the little metal 'princess' tag on it!
I saw one of these on the road the other day... not any old Allegro either but a 'Vanden Plas':

The Allegro has to be one of the worst cars ever built, and that's saying something from the company that gave us the Morris Marina!

Loved by Clarkson!

I saw an Austin Allegro in original harvest gold pootling up the M1 on Friday, I overtook it as I didn't want anything falling off it and hitting me. I remember my local priest driving around in an Austin Maxi, and my uncle had an Austin Princess that he gave to my sister.
I like the old Ka - it's different.
lol I used to have an MG Maestro call Minnie I also grew up around Cromer!!!

Hubby used to have a Metro called Suzy he is also from Cromer area!!!
I had a Maestro for a while but wasn't keen on it. Well I had two but only one legally...the other I took by accident from the garage doing the service on mine.....it was the same colour though.....so I it drove for a while until I picked up my son who noticed straight away...and seemed surprised I had changed the car without telling MrG...

I love my KA :-)

My dad bought a Metro for me so I could pick him up from the pub. My dad was quite a large man and he often got stuck in the back. Really wish we had smart phones back then...
