Is there a program available that will allow me fire fight a virus infected machine from CD, assuming I kept the CD up to date. I have had several occasion where friends have asked me for help when their machine got infected and the only way I could think of was to add their machine to my workgroup and scan it remotley. This can be a extremley annoying task depending on the virus.

Take their hard drive out and add it to your PC as slave then scan it?

I'm assuming that your problem with installing an antivirus prog on their PC is that it'll be out of date and won't detect new viruses/virii once installed? They're offline and can't update it?

An AV prog I used to use had downloadable "dat files" that you could use to update a number of PCs with, maybe you could find this prog and get these up to date files.
