Yes, you usually can.
First question, Can you boot into "Safe Mode"?
Second question, Do you have access to another computer with internet access?
jayceejay, I'm off out now but I've subscribed to this thread and will check it when I get back. If you are still having trouble, I will try and talk you through the removal process.
It works 80% of the time.
You'll also need a memory stick.

Usually booting in safemode on a PC means tapping f8 as soon as you power up, and keep tapping it. You'll see a menu with the start in safemode option. Use cursor keys and return to select. On a laptop it maybe f2 but whatever you have (it might all be different now) just keep an eye on the screen when you turn it on (blink and you'll miss it) it'll normally say in the corner of the screen.
Once you're in safemode, (I suspect where WyeDyed is going with this, but since he's out for a bit) standby for further instructions!
The other internet connected computer and memory stick ( or other external media device) might not always be needed if you chose the boot with networking option.
Try that first and then download http://www.malwarebytes.org/

All god advice, so far; especially the malwarebytes download in "safe mode"...
Please let us know if it works, if not, I will check in tomorrow...
DON'T pay anyone any money, it just encourages them.
